Tax and Estate Planning

The UK tax system is highly complicated. If you want to plan for the future we can guide you through the pitfalls and advise on the best way to protect your assets.

Inheritance Tax Planning
If your estate is worth more than £325,000 (including your home) it will be subject to inheritance tax upon your death, and anything above £325,000 will be taxed at a rate of 40%. However, with careful planning you can reduce the amount owed.

For example, you don’t need to pay tax on any property that is left to a husband, wife or civil partner. It is also possible to give gifts of money away tax-free while you are still living – but remember you have to give the gift at least seven years before your death or it will still be taxable.

The Inheritance Tax laws often change, and we can help you adjust your plans in line with these.
